Essential Information

The plumbing and heating industry, on the whole, suffers from bad press and a poor reputation.  We aim to redress that balance, and offer these guidelines as to what you should look for when employing the services of an engineer.

  • If working with gas the engineer MUST be corgi registered by law.  Insist on seeing the engineer’s registration card which must bear their photo and name and be currently in date.  If in any doubt call corgi:  0870 401 2300.
  • Always obtain estimates or details of the hourly rate with an approximation of duration of the job.
  • Ensure a landline phone number is available and valid, as well as a postal address.
  • Obtain references and recommendations if possible.
  • There is no such thing as a free lunch.  If something appears too good to be true, then  it probably is.
  • Always trust your instincts.  Smartly presented people with clean and orderly vans/tools generally respect their work and vice versa.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions
